Candidate Bio

Richard H. Ellis is a retired attorney and Air Force officer, born in Wisconsin and raised in western Pennsylvania before moving to Aldan for the first time in 1956. Upon graduation from Lansdowne Aldan High School, Rick enlisted in the Air Force, entering the Air Force Academy in 1960 where he was President of the Cadet Engineering Society. He then served as the Air Force's plant representative at General Dynamics, working on the development of the F-111 tactical strike aircraft.

In 1965, Rick entered Southern Methodist University Law School, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the SMU Law Review and as Chief Justice of the Honor Court, earning his JD in 1968. He undertook post-doctoral legal study at Harvard Law School, MIT, and the Kennedy School of Government before moving to San Jose and practicing product liability law. By 1980, he had opened a private general practice, advising small businesses and individual clients, before returning to Aldan in 1995. Upon his return, he served as a legal consultant with private law practices in Media. Despite the reemergence of snow into his life, Rick felt the warmth of the community much more closely in Aldan, and he began to get involved in the local organizations. Currently, Rick is Chairman Emeritus of the Aldan Democratic Organization and for the past two years has been Service Officer of the Aldan American Legion Memorial Post. Rick is also a member of his church council.
